Beamr's perceptual quality measure is built on a proprietary, low complexity, highly reliable, perceptually aligned quality metric that is covered by thirty-three granted patents. The existence of this special quality measure enables controlling a video encoder to output a stream with the maximum compression possible while maintaining the original video resolution, format and visual quality. CABR does this by controlling the compression level of each frame in the video sequence so that it is compressed to the maximum while producing a visual result that is the same as the quality that was originally specified.
Routinely, quality claims are made by vendors and service providers, yet the process and method for verifying them are rarely disclosed. As the next step in the development of CABR, Beamr showcased at NAB 2019 CABR accelerated with silicon by showing integration with the Intel Media SDK.
